Sleepwalking Towards The Exit

In the spring of 2018, Los Angeles based artists Akina Cox and Yasmine Diaz met through mutual friends and shortly after exchanged studio visits. They soon discovered that they shared uncommon but significant experiences; childhoods in insular communities under conservative ideologies, arranged marriages, and eventually, long-term estrangement from their families. Curious to learn more about each other's pasts, they continued the conversation over email.
